I bought my heater over 10 years ago and it still works great. I originally bought it for my 40ft cruiser and it kept the bilge area from freezing. I always winterized just in case we lost power BT every time I checked it was working great. Mulch better for the batteries and everything down there.
Love my Extreme Heater. Two seasons in and works great.
I live in Maryland and winter is never too bad. I bought two 600w heaters one for each engine. Last year I had the BS heater - but it was so big I could only put it on the far side of the bilge. I didn't feel good about the BS heater. But these xtreme heaters are so small I put a 600 w under each enginge. Its kept the bilge nice and toasty. Maybe a little overkill, but I like overkill.
The Xtreme Heater is definitely more expensive when compared to the other bilge heaters on the market but IT'S WORTH IT! This heater is truly built to last and down the very littlest details of the heater is built tough and is one of the only heaters that is truly waterproof. Why purchase anything else when this option is available.
I finally went with a bilge heater instead of winterizing - and thanks to the Xtreme Heater it went as smooth as it can go. It turns on when it needs to and keeps the temperature even in my engine compartment for my Mastercraft.
Bought this to keep my RV basement warm, where I keep my lithium batteries. Thought I might need another but no way, this thing works great! Keeps the whole basement warm and helps make sure my water pipes are safe too.
Excellent performance for 11+ years! This is one reliable piece of kit. I monitor performance via a logging thermometer and even when it is negative 10 and fiercely windy the engine compartment has maintained 40 degrees Chaparral winters on a lift (out of the water) and the extremeheater handles the business. Bravo!
Over the past 16 years, I have used Xtreme heaters in my boats. First, for 14 years in a Silverton 43 Sportbridge and most recently in a Monterey 295SY. I have always felt confident that my engines & fresh water systems were safe during the winter. Great safe heater!
I've got a pair of heaters installed in the back of an F-150. Keeps all the fire/ems equipment unfrozen and ready for work as the truck has to stay outside.
They don't get too hot, they turn on automatically, what's not to love?
I have a 23.5 ft Cobra performance boat with 496 HO. I always take it out of our boat house for the winter. My wife didn’t want our boat in the garage anymore for the winter. I did my homework and ordered this Extreme 400wt heater. It performed perfectly with temps as low as the mid 20s. Last week I cleaned and cranked over my 496 and no issues, all is good. If you’re looking for a reliable heater for the winter months, look no further, Extreme has your solution.
Was nervous about keeping our boat on the water during the cold winter months here in North Idaho, not anymore! We have been monitoring the bilge of our 24 ft cabin cruiser via a remote WIFI temp sensor, and so far this heater has performed flawlessly! Finally looking forward to some year-round fishing without worrying about our motor freezing.
My first winter with xtreme heater on my inboard which gave me a total sense of comfort on keeping my boat protected!
I used the medium heater for a mid-sized (and moderately insulated) engine compartment, and it successfully kept the engine and components from freezing, even during -10 degree F cold snaps. Incredible! I did not want to winterize the engine and fresh water system and not be able to use the boat all winter, so this was a perfect solution. Very well built and reliable. Buy the mount too -- allows for easy removal for spring, or easier installation overall if you're leaving in in permanently.
Pro tip -- if your dock power isn't entirely reliable and you're using the unit as described (to protect an unwinterized engine), I would encourage the installation of a power or temperature monitor. For us, the combo of Victron Cerbo (with temp sensor), BMV 712 battery monitor and 4G LTE Modem (cheap IOT sim card) give us remote alarms when the dock power is lost. I haven't seen temps in the engine room below the mid 40's with the heater installed -- usually hovering at about 48 degrees F.
I use my heater in my 1970 VW bus to get it to start up in the mornings. After I installed the Xtreme Heater in the engine compartemnt, the bus starts up every time.
The xtreme heater has given me the ability to ride all year round with the confidence that my boat is protected from the elements. It successfully protected my Malibu Wakesetter VLX through historically low temperatures and one of the worst winters on record. I am convinced that the Xtreme Heater is the most cost-effective, reliable, safe, and easy to use product on the market.
