This is a research plane that uses Xtreme Heaters to help protect the electronics.
The attached photos show the installation of a XHEAT (Small) heater in the Twin Otter aircraft. The first picture points out the location of the heater in the nose of the aircraft.
“Our Xtreme XHEAT heaters are used to preheat the Avionics compartment on RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) Aircraft, when deployed for Operations in the Arctic.”
